I admit I was perhaps a bit optimistic that I could make a blog post every week or so. Here we are, well into the new year, and I haven’t come up with a good idea for a post.
The problem, I think, is not much has happened since my last post. Things have been a bit weird all told, since Best Beloved decided to have a bit of an unscheduled sit down which required the intervention of paramedics. No injuries, save to pride, but it’s led to a fair amount of thinking about where we go from here.
I have to admit the escapade left me in a bit of state. As things have improved, I have been feeling better about life. Everything’s still a bit broken, though.
That reminds me that I began a vague photographic project last year. When Best Beloved was still able to walk fairly well, we would wander up and down our road. It’s a cul-de-sac and passing traffic is rare, so it was quite safe for us to be in the middle of the road. I kept noticing the absolute state of the highway. Yes, it had been patched here and there, but decades of various holes dug by various utilities has left the surface really scarred. It needs completely stripping back and resurfacing – but no-one has the money to pay for that. So, potholes get patched, and the rest just gets worse. Anyway, the state of the road intrigued me enough to point a camera at it to get interesting images. It’s an ongoing project, for when I remember to a) take a camera with me, and b) actually look at the world around me.
There’s an idea I have been brewing to start a new blog about my 1940 obsession. I know, I keep mentioning it but nothing seems to happen. My excuse is that lots of things need to be in the right order to make starting the thing worth the time. I don’t want to launch the blog with little to no meaningful content. It will happen, it is just taking a while.
That Life™ keeps getting in the way. As I am now a carer for Best Beloved, the thing I laughingly call my Day Job has been taking less and less prominence. I allowed myself the whole of December off, with a view to kicking off the new year at the workbench all guns blazing. That has failed miserably. My problem is I am a world class prevaricator, and even the prospect of deadlines doesn’t faze me at all. I must give myself a good talking to. I have work that needs to be finished!
Considering I had nothing to write about, I think I’ve done quite well.
