The first day of September, and it is beginning of the meteorological autumn in the northern hemisphere. There may be some days of summer still to come, but there is no denying daylight is diminishing, and the first frosts won’t be far off. My social media is filling with images of fruit and vegetables from keen gardeners, and the leaves on local trees are just beginning to turn.
