Billy you’ve met before. He’s our current cat, in that he is the fifth one we’ve adopted from our local Cats Protection centre in the past couple of decades.
Billy has been with us since May 2016. According to his documents, he is going to be 13 years old this year. He is a bit overweight, and is supposedly on a diet. It doesn’t seem to be doing any good, but equally he doesn’t seem at all bothered about it. Neither are we, even if the vet does mither about weight loss during Billy’s regular checkup.
Like many pets, Billy has acquired nicknames during his time here. I made a list, because that’s the silly thing I like to do occasionally.
| Billy (obviously) | Billy-puss (how he signs greetings cards) | Bill |
| Billikins | Bilge (no idea how that happened) | Billage |
| Billy-bobs | Billy-bobbins | The Bills |
| Tubs (a Tony Hancock reference) | William | Whiskers |
| Smoggie | Smogpule (A Goon Show reference) | Moggs |
| Charlie | Charlie-puss (see a pattern?) | Cuddles (he likes them) |
| Herbert | Fluffpot (because he is) | Furby |
| Furball | Fuzzface | Fleabag (very rarely) |
| Matey | Mush (with a long vowel) |
Well, it made a post, didn’t it. A bit of humour, a mild whimsy.
